Clinical Preparedness for Psychedelic Substance Exposure in Animals

Available starting 1/13/27. In 2022, Colorado passed policy allowing at-home cultivation and use of psilocybin-containing mushrooms and created facilitated therapeutic access to psychedelic substances. Like cannabis before it, increased human access means increased animal exposure risk — in homes, in therapeutic settings, and along cultivation and manufacturing routes. This session provides an overview of the policy context, at-risk animal populations, clinical signs of exposure, available response tools, and guidance for the post-exposure critical period.
