CACVT’s NVTW Event ON DEMAND: The Veterinary Pawprint: Addressing Environmental Sustainability in the Delivery of Vet Care
Colleen Duncan, DVM, MSc, PhD
Dr. Colleen Duncan is a veterinary professor at Colorado State University. Board certified in anatomic pathology, veterinary preventive medicine, and epidemiology, she works on a range of domestic and wild animals. Her current efforts are largely focused on the study of animal health impacts associated with climate change, the protection of health from environmental hazards and identifying ways to minimize the environmental impact of veterinary care. She is actively engaged in several professional sustainability groups including the AVMA Committee for Environmental Issues, the ACVPM Sustainability Special Interest Group, the AAVMC Climate Change Working Group and the Veterinary Sustainability Alliance.
Danielle Scott, DVM, PhD, MESM
Dr. Danni Scott, a veterinarian and environmental epidemiologist at Colorado State University, investigates how climate-induced environmental hazards impact animal health, and in turn, how the veterinary profession can address climate change through the implementation of best environmental practices in the delivery of veterinary care. She also focuses on enhancing access to veterinary care to promote health and resiliency in communities that face various barriers to receiving it. Her commitment to environmental stewardship extends beyond her research. At home, she practices urban homesteading—nurturing numerous vegetable, pollinator, and native gardens and caring for a flock of backyard chickens. Rounding out the household are her three big dogs—Tater Tot, Sugar Magnolia, and Otter Pup—and a medical rescue cat named Toast Malone.
