– How Group Renewal Works –

Step 1:  Verify Staff Eligibility

Manually verify the CACVT credential expiration date of each individual to confirm they are eligible for CACVT credential renewal this cycle.  We recommend having staff submit their most recent CACVT credential certificate to you, as this directly outlines their expiration date for your records.

Step 2:  Build Your List

Create a list of your technicians needing renewal this cycle. An Excel document is preferred with their legal first name in the first column and last name in the second column. You will upload this information into the prepayment form.

Step 3:  Submit Form + Payment

Have a credit card available and move forward with completing the 2026-2028 Group Prepayment Form.  Make sure to double count the renewals (+/- professional association memberships) needed before submitting to avoid errors.

Step 4:  Distribute Your Clinic’s Discount Code

Expect to receive an email from CACVT within 5-7 business days of your form submission.  Inside this email will be a discount code and instructions for its use.  If you do not receive an email or a copy of your invoice, see below FAQ section for additional trouble-shooting.

It is your responsibility to distribute this discount code to your employees to use at checkout when submitting their renewal application.

Step 5:  Each Technician Renews Their Own Credential

Once you give your discount code to the listed staff, they can move forward with submitting the required CE hours and renewal application.  They will need to enter the discount code at checkout to reduce their fee to $0.  No refunds will be offered to staff who do not use their discount code.

Be advised that there is a manual review process for all CACVT credential renewal applications.  Once an application is approved, the technician’s credential expiration date will be updated.  You can request a new CACVT credential certificate at this time to confirm their renewal status.

– Strengthen Your Investment in Your RVTs –

For just $70 for the 2-year cycle, professional membership provides access to continuing education discounts, legislative updates, industry resources, and professional recognition that benefits both your RVTs and your practice. Explore the full benefits of CACVT membership here.

Consider adding professional membership to your employees’ renewal to maximize the value of your investment.

– Quick FAQs –

When does the CACVT credential renewal period open?

CACVT credential renewal will open in May 2026 and will end on June 30,2026.

What is the difference between a CACVT credential and a membership to CACVT's professional association?

CACVT Credential:

Maintaining a CACVT credential is a required step for continued registration with the Colorado Department of Regulatory Agencies (DORA) to have the ability to utilize the legally protected titles Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT), Veterinary Technician (VT), or Veterinary Technician Specialist (VTS).

CACVT Professional Association Membership:

Membership with CACVT’s professional association is optional and not required for registration with DORA. Membership provides valuable benefits, professional development opportunities, and year-round support for Colorado’s veterinary technicians. Learn more about the benefits of membership HERE.

Can I add on pre-paid memberships to CACVT's professional association with this renewal form?

Yes!  You can support your veterinary technician team by prepaying for their CACVT membership along with their renewal.  To do this, just add in the same number of memberships as credential renewals* when filling out the Group Prepayment Form.

Since each staff member will receive the same discount code, all employees must receive the same prepaid items to reflect accurate discounting.

It has been over 7 business days and I have not received my invoice and/or discount code. What do I do next?

If you do not receive an email or a copy of your invoice after 7 business days and have already checked your Junk/Spam email’s folders, you can review your communications and download your invoices using the following steps:

      1. Log in to your CACVT.org profile using the credentials you used when submitting the form.
      2. Scroll down and click the blue link to “Access Profile Information.”
      3. On this profile page, you can access Invoices and Email History by clicking the title in the light blue menu.

Whose responsibility is it to apply for credential renewal?

It is each credentialed individual’s responsibility to add their CE to their CACVT CE log based on CACVT’s CE Guidelines and submit their credential application before their CACVT credential expiration date.

Individuals using group renewal codes MUST input the code at the time of checkout to reduce their fee to $0.  If an individual does not use their discount code at the time of checkout, no refund will be offered from CACVT.

Prepayment does not automatically renew a CACVT credential for an individual, nor does it guarantee approval.

Can I get a refund for any unused renewal prepayment(s)?

No refunds for prepayment of credentialing fees/membership. This includes if a prepaid employee leaves your establishment, fails to submit a renewal application, fails to resubmit a denied application, or is not eligible for renewal at this time.

It is the responsibility of the employer to confirm the usage of the discount code.

I have PVTs on my staff. Do I include them in my CACVT credential renewal count for group payment?

No – Provisional Veterinary Technicians (PVTs) hold a provisional registration through DORA and are not CACVT-credentialed until they complete the requirements for a CACVT credential under their applicable pathway. Only CACVT-credentialed individuals should be included in CACVT credential renewal counts for group payment.

While PVTs do not have a CACVT credential to renew, they can be members of CACVT’s professional association.  If you would like to cover the cost of membership for your PVTs, please contact CACVT’s Membership Director, Jen Steckline about next steps – jens@cacvt.org.
