Reinstating an Expired CACVT Credential

Did your CACVT credential expire? You may be eligible to apply for CACVT Credential Reinstatement if your credential expired within CACVT’s allowable reinstatement timeframe.

Reinstatement requirements are based on your previous CACVT credential expiration date. Depending on when your credential expired, you may be required to submit continuing education, pay delinquent credentialing fees, and pay a reinstatement fee before your credential can be approved.

Please read all the following information before submitting your CACVT Credential Reinstatement application.

– Current Application Period Note –

Applications submitted between 5/1/2026 – 4/30/2028 will be processed for the 2026–2028 credentialing cycle.

If approved, the reinstated CACVT credential will expire on June 30, 2028. CE and fees are based on the applicant’s previous CACVT credential expiration date and include any missed credentialing cycles.

Reinstating credentials expired June 30, 2026

The ability to reinstate a CACVT credential that expired on June 30, 2026 will begin on 11/1/2026.

If you have a credential with this expiration date, you are still eligible for a late CACVT credential renewal until 10/31/2026. Please CLICK HERE navigate to the CACVT Credential Renewal Page.

A $50 late fee will apply for applications received 7/1/2026 – 10/31/2026

Reinstating credentials expired June 30, 2024

Submit 40 CE hours, with at least 20 Medical hours, of continuing education in your CACVT CE log obtained after 7/1/2022.

Complete the CACVT Credential Reinstatement Application and pay the outstanding credentialing fees:
- Current 2026-2028 credentialing fee – $100
- Past-due 2024-2026 credentialing fee – $150
- CACVT Credential reinstatement fee – $100

Each application goes through a review process. Once approved, a confirmation email will be sent with specific instructions on completing the registration process and preparing for credential renewal.

Submit 60 CE hours, with at least 30 Medical hours, of continuing education in your CACVT CE log after 7/1/2020.

Complete the CACVT Credential Reinstatement Application and pay the outstanding credentialing fees:
- Current 2026-2028 credentialing fee – $100
- Past-due 2024-2026 credentialing fee – $150
- Past-due 2022-2024 credentialing fee – $152
- CACVT credential reinstatement fee – $100

Credential Reinstatement Application

Reinstating credentials expired on or Before June 30, 2020

Reinstatement is no longer available for credentials that expired on or before June 30, 2020.

Graduates of an AVMA-accredited veterinary technology program have the option to re-credential through the following process:

- Retake the VTNE. Visit the AAVSB website for more information.
- Submit a Credential by Examination Application
